50xChallenge completes Maine

After completing Falmouth Massachusetts and reviewing the weather, I decided to immediately push north to Fryburg Maine Monday morning. Keeping in touch with Johnson Qu and monitoring the weather we decided that Tuesday was looking better.

So, I deviated my trip to Camping World in Chitester, NH where I had made an appointment for the next day to have my Furnace looked at. Fortunately, they able to get me in and resolved the issue with some cleaning, and even fixed the switch and staircase screws that were coming loose.

While I was waiting I recorded this symbol of America – an American Flag blowing and recorded it for some B roll to use in a video at a later time.

Around 6 pm I arrived at Eastern Slope Regional Airport(KIZG) and briefly met David the airport manager who got me situated with the camper. Sweet potatoes for dinner.

Tuesday morning I woke up to perfect weather and wanted to fly, but I was on a mission to make it to Portland ME so that I could say I’ve been Portland to Portland. I enjoyed driving around and site seeing though I wasn’t able to get to a Lighthouse landmark because all the state parks were closed. Portland was definitely a ghost town and pretty much everything was closed.

One of the things I wanted to do was eat fresh Maine Lobster and I would have totally splurged on an expensive place for the perfect Maine Lobster Meal. Sadly, it wasn’t to be, but after a little searching, I found a place that I purchased a whole pound of Cooked Lobster for $53.

I proceeded back to the airport where David and Johnson were scheduled to arrive around 4 pm so we could fly. I made some awesome lunch with the Lobster.

The winds had picked up so we waited for the winds out and finally around 6.30 pm our window to fly opened up. We were all excited to fly late because this was going to be the biggest and brightest full moon so far in 2020. While a camera will never do the flight and Full Moon justice, we had an amazing time.

Maine, State 35 for me was a personal milestone given it is the most northeastern state and signified the beginning of my return trip west. I am thus very grateful for Johnson and David for helping me complete this state.
