Alaska the last Paramotor Frontier

My morning started early Tuesday morning to make the 45 minute trip to the Seattle Airport. Everything went off without a hitch and 4 hours later I landed in Anchorage and waited and hour for my ride to arrive.

Lenard picked me with his chocolate lab Molly and our first stop was to unload 1500 lbs of moose antlers and stack them on crates for shipping. Not an easy task, given the sizes and shapes.

We ran a few more errands and stopped off for an early dinner and enjoyed some amazing smoked ribs which were awesome.

Next stop was to pickup a shipment of moose antlers to take the 4.5 hour drive down to Homer. One of the first things you notice on the drive all the amazing mountains and exquisite beauty of the area.

We finally arrived in Homer at midnight. The days are supper long with it being light from 4.30 until midnight. Its great for being able to do a lot especially with the nice weather.

The next morning we pulled the Miniplane out with a Thor engine and put the tank back in and built the hoop. Considering it hadn’t been started for more than a year, it did well to get going.

Around 9 pm the winds finally died down and I was quickly made our way to The Spit and launched off the beach. A few flybys and satisfied the motor was running, I climbed and got the usual photos and video documenting my flight. 22 minutes later I landed and the 50 State Paramotor Tour officially ended with clapping and salutations from my 4 witnesses.

Flight in Homer Alaska

Friday morning Lenard and I both flew and we did a 30-mile loop along the ocean and finally came back over the hill to have a huge view of the whole city and a long glide back to our launch site over the local airport.

Saturday morning we went fishing and just had a relaxing time on the water. There were 4 of us. 3 of us each caught a Halibut with mine being the biggest for the day at around 25 lbs. I was super stoked since I haven’t fished from a boat in many years. Lenard cooked an amazing dish with some of the fresh halibut – it was sooooo good!

Sunday was spent working sanding moose antlers for dog chews. Dinner included Moose hamburgers.

Monday morning our plan to fly across the bay and fly to the glacier came together. An absolutely beautiful and amazing experience.

My time in Alaska ended with an interview for the local news state and my flight back to Seattle. And just like that, the tour was over.
