Newport Rhode Island

While in Connecticut I connected with Ron Petrie whom Johnson Qu had put me in touch with. Almost immediately Ron jumped into action and started scanning for locations, weather and places to pull my camper to.

The weather was turning out to be a big factor and so I stayed put in Ellington over the next several days without seeing a soul and just keeping in touch via phone.

Tuesday morning Ron called me and said there looked like a window of weather for the afternoon and that I should make my way to Newport to fly and that he had made arrangements for my camper for the few hours and a place in Masschetuchetes to camp after.

Not only did Ron meet me in Newport, but he proceeded to play tour guide where we followed each other in our vehicles with an open line and he would point out all the points of interest – Ron had grown up here, so he knows it well.

Later that afternoon we set up to launch and I was successful to have an amazing flight that even had a landing at one of the mansions.

Much more to come about Ron for my Massachusetts post which will come once I have completed it. In the meantime, sitting tight for weather and staying isolated from COVID 19.
