North Carolina

Arriving in North Carolina at Gastonia Municipal Airport Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday catching up on videos and updating Maps and much more. On Thursday I moved over to Jeff Pearson Lincolnton where I spent the day updating Drone Panora material and taking a day off before the snow rolled in the late afternoon.

Friday morning I had plans to get fuel and head out to the Rebel Airfield but started out finding out that I had a flat tire on the camper. I was able to remove the screw and patch the tire but discovered I didn’t have enough air in the scuba tank to fill it. Fortunately, the tire help until I got to a gas station to fully inflate it.

I then went to Walmart to buy a small compressor which I felt I should have just in case it leaked and stocked up on DEF fluid and de-icer for the truck. I then thought it would be a good idea to just replace all the tires which are almost all at the end of their life at just 8200 miles. This turned out to be a huge waste of time. Not only did they not want to do the tires, but even when I removed all four tires off the camper, it turned out they couldn’t get the tires off the rims with the Tyron blow out preventers.

Sadly this also cost me an evening of flying and I will have to hope the tires hold out another 1000 miles that I will cover this week as I complete Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio.

Saturday has come with great conditions, sunshine and an opportunity to charge all the batties for the camper, strobes, Sena, and heated gloves. Looking forward to checking off North Carolina today with several pilots and really hoping that things work out for Virginia in the morning.
